Sony PS5 owners are now able to listen to millions of songs included with the Apple Music service while they game. Earlier this month, Express.co.uk reported on a leak that hinted an Apple Music app would be rolling out for the PS5 imminently.
And after the cat was let out the bag early, an Apple Music app has now officially launched for the PlayStation 5 this week on Wednesday October 27. The newly-added support for the leading music streaming service means PS5 owners can listen to songs from Apple’s humongous 90 million strong library on their console.
PS5 users can also access thousands of playlists, watch 4K music videos or stream an Apple Music Radio station. These stations play modern chart-topping hits, classics and country music live – and offer personalised playlists that are based on your own unique taste in music.
The PS5 is the first gaming console to add integrated support for Apple Music. PlayStation fans can listen to songs from Apple Music at any time on their console – whether that’s before, during or after a gaming session.
After installing the Apple Music app, PS5 gamers will be able to access it after pressing the PS button on the DualSense controller.
PlayStation gamers then need to head to the control centre and then access the music function card. In this area of the PlayStation user interface, Apple Music subscribers will find recommendations based on the game they’re playing, choose from a playlist in their library or opt for a gaming-curated playlist.
The Apple Music PS5 app will also let subscribers watch a wide selection of music videos on the big screen.
If you choose to go back to gaming or anywhere else on the PS5 user interface while watching a music video audio will continue on playing.
And if you then decide to jump back into the video you will seamlessly pick up from where you are in the song.
To download the Apple Music PS5 app, simply head to the media space section on your PS5 console and follow the on-screen instructions.
The release of the PS5 Apple Music app, on Wednesday October 27, came on an exciting day for PlayStation gamers. Earlier that morning Amazon, Argos and BT all opened orders for the PS5 once again in the UK.
So hopefully if you’ve struggled to pick up a PS5 since it launched last November you had more joy then.
And to cap off a great day for PS5 news Sony also held another State of Play broadcast at 10pm on Wednesday, which this time around focused on third-party games heading to the in-demand console.
