Apple brings Spatial Audio and Lossless music support to HomePod and HomePod Mini – morningtidings

HomePod and HomePod Mini smart speakers will soon have Spatial Audio and Lossless music support via the Apple Music app. Apple has released HomePod beta 5 update that adds a new toggle dedicated to Dolby Atmos within the Home app.
In the beta update, Apple also explains what each toggle does. The Lossless Audio feature, Apple says, preserves every detail of the original file. “Turning this on will consume significantly more data,” it warns. With the Dolby Atmos feature, songs in Dolby Atmos and other Dolby Audio formats will be played on HomePod speakers.
However, not all beta users will be able to see the toggle. To check whether or not the feature is available on their device, users must run the latest beta versions of iOS 15 and HomePod 15. Here’s how a user can check

  • Open the Home app
  • Click on the Home icon available on the top left corner
  • Go to “Home Settings” and click on your profile
  • In “Media,” click on the “Apple Music” tab
  • Here you will see newly added toggle — Lossless Audio and Dolby Atmos (if available on your device)

Currently, users can use the HomePod speaker with Dolby Atmos by connecting it with Apple TV 4K. Earlier this year, Apple said that it would bring lossless music streaming to HomePod and HomePod mini through a software update. It, then, did not give a timeline. With the latest beta rollout, it seems the feature will soon be made available to all users.
