apple: Apple may launch its cheapest 5G iPhone in early 2022: Report - Times of India

Apple could be working on a new iPhone SE model with an A14 Bionic chip and could launch it in the first half of 2022, claims a report by DigiTimes. As per the report, the new iPhone SE will be called the iPhone SE 3.
Similar claims were made by TF Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo about a month back when he said that the iPhone SE will be updated with new chipsets and 5G features in the first half of 2022. Kuo also claimed that the upcoming iPhone SE will be “Apple’s cheapest 5G phone ever”. Going by that, the claims by DigiTimes have got a solid backing. Both the sources are also of one, affirmative view regarding the presence of a Touch ID sensor and the home button on the design of the iPhone SE 3. The A14 Bionic will be the most important upgrade to the iPhone SE 3 if the reports turn out to be true as the latest one comes with the A13 Bionic chip. There are also rumours of Apple giving the iPhone SE series a complete design overhaul, but that is being predicted for 2023, still two years away.
Apple is all set to announce the next iPhone lineup in September this year, which is coming closer. While the upcoming lineup was generally believed to be named iPhone 13, there were also some claims that Apple may skip the number 13 and simply go by the name ‘iPhone’. Others suggested that Apple might name the device lineup as iPhone 12S. But as per the supply chain, the name of the 2021 iPhone is going to be iPhone 13 only, as per a report by 9To5Mac. As per the report, “Apple’s new iPhone this year has entered the countdown stage of stocking, and the supply chain has reported that this year’s new phone will be named iPhone 13.”
The report adds that Foxconn will get the bulk of the iPhone 13 orders while Pegatron will have the onus of assembling the iPhone 13 mini.
