apple: Apple has ordered 100 million units of the A15 chip for iPhone 13, claims report - Times of India

As the iPhone 13 announcement day inches closer, rumours and leaks are having a field day. The latest one deals with the shipment of the A15 chips ordered by Apple, where it is claimed that close to 100 million units of the same have already been ordered by the tech giant from TSMC, as per a report by WCCF Tech. Also, every unit that’s been ordered will not reportedly be used in the iPhone 13, but the Cupertino-based tech giant may keep some in stock to use them in some other product like the 6th generation iPad mini. But most of the ordered units are likely for the upcoming iPhone only.
The report adds that for the 100 million units order, Apple has asked the suppliers to jack up chip production by 20% as compared to the iPhone 12 series.
Though the A15 Bionic chip has the same CPU core count (six cores), it is based on a 5nm process said to be more advanced and power-efficient than the one used to make A14 chips, which the Pro models, the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max, would require if they are going to be launched with 120Hz Always-On displays.
To compensate for the high battery consumption by the displays in such a case, Apple is going to increase the fast charging support in the iPhone 13 as compared to the iPhone 12. As per a report by MacRumours, the tech behemoth is going to bring 25W fast charging support to the new iPhones. That and a bigger battery size should help counter the battery consumption by the display. The report further adds that Apple is also planning to launch a 25W power adapter as an accessory for purchase this fall.
