apple: Apple could bring M2 chip-powered MacBook Air next year, claims tipster – morningtidings

Rumours about Apple’s M2 chip have already begun circulating, with tipster Dylan @Dylandkt claiming that the tech giant would introduce the new chip with its MacBook Air models next year. The leaker claims that a completely redesigned MacBook Air model powered by the M2 chip is on track and would arrive in the first half of 2022. He also mentioned an M1X chip which, as per him, is being kept reserved for the high-end Pro Mac models like the MacBook Pro and the iMac.

Reliable tipster Jon Prosser has also hinted at something similar earlier, saying that the upcoming MacBook Air would come with an M2 chip, a new design and new colour options much like those with the iMac.
Apple launched two new iPad Pro models during the Spring Loaded 2021 event: The 11-inch iPad Pro and the 12.9-inch iPad Pro. Both the models come powered by Apple’s own M1 chip.
The M2 chip, the successor to the M1, is expected to come with an increased processing power of the CPU and GPUs and also add more than two Thunderbolt ports as the M1 chip supports a maximum of two. Also, since the M1 chip allows for only one external display output, it is expected that the M2 chip could allow for two.
A couple of months back, a report by Nikkei claimed that the next-gen Apple Silicon chip or the M2 chip, entered into production. The report predicted that they would be available in mass supply from July this year only, which has not happened so far. Right now, the buzz is around the 2021 iPhones, which are expected to be announced in September.
