It appears that we will be an undisputed heavyweight champion in the end.
After months of negotiations between WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury and WBO, a global pandemic, IBF and WBA title Anthony Joshua dotted a two-fight deal to make history as the first undisputed heavyweight champion of the four-belt era. Signed on the line. A location has not yet been determined, but both parties have agreed and it goes to all systems.

Heavyweight boxing has gained momentum after an ups and downs over the years, when the Klatsko brothers ruled the game with an iron fist during the 2000s. They rarely competed in the United States and the lack of competition made the division less than compelling. But the rise of Fury and Joshua, along with Durrett Wilder, brought the biggest division in boxing back into the limelight. And there cannot be two better fighters at this time.
In A Corner You Will Not Have Fury, the undefined Gypsy King, whose return to the ring after suffering from mental health problems, alcoholism, and excessive weight became a fascinating story. After leaving the game to regain his life after his win over Vladimir Klitschko in 2015, he returned three years later as a man on a mission. Somehow, three years away made him an even better fighter and he shocked the boxing world when he drew a heavy wielder in a split.
In the return bout last February, Fury (30–0–1, 21 KOs) prevailed and stopped Wilder in the seventh round and claimed to be undefeated.
In the other corner, you’ll have Anthony Joshua, a human specimen molded from a bodybuilding magazine. Britain, the biggest global star in boxing, took home gold at the 2012 Olympics and broke in 2013 due to a heavy split from the moment he advanced. A knockout machine, Joshua overpowers opponents with a ferocious weapon to separate a fighter from his body. He regained 22 straight wins with 21 knockouts, while becoming unified heavyweight champion with his 11th round TKO against Qualitco.
But then he was stunned against Andy Ruiz in his American debut and had to pick up the pieces of his boxing career. All he did was set the stage for this big performance by winning a major unanimous decision in the rematch and defeating Kubrat Pulaev in the ninth round of their December clash.
And now here we are. There are no more hurdles to clarify as it appears that a proposed third fight between Fury and Wilder has been pushed aside and Alexander Eusek of his turn before essentially cashing in for Joshua’s WBO title. Will wait.
Apart from being the biggest battle in the history of British boxing, it is a big affair between only two fighters who cannot be more different.
They always say that there are fights in genres, but so are stories. If you want to invest in a narrative, this will be the one. You can root for Rage, who is battling through mental health issues to see where she is today. Or, you can bring back Joshua, the charming demon of a man who covers the look he created for the magazine with a viciousness that only his opponents have to deal with. You can’t be wrong, but you will be entertained.
His style is also so different that it will cause a tricky performance between the two Goliaths. Joshua is a seek-and-destroy fighter who learned to restrain his point of view after being stopped by Ruiz. There are now more nuances to his subversive ways as he claims to be a strategist with a violent streak, as exemplified by Peulev’s own knockout. With that new wrinkle in his game, he will be harder to handle. But if a fighter can handle it, it is fury.
The granite chin and large size of the fury are combined with the cunningness seen in the heavy-weight partitions. He doesn’t sit around the ring like most 200-plus-pound fighters. Instead, he shines with impeccable grace that distracts his opponents before dodging the blows with his punches.
It would be a violent ballet that would be equally charming and frightening. A punch can end either night of combat and the world will be on edge to see who comes out on top.
And they have already cut the rematch in advance, no matter what the first fight is over, fans will consider it as an immediate return bout. And this is boxing. It is best faced with no politics in between. Promoters have put their ego aside, opponents have cleared the way, and now the boxing titans will take on an epic performance of sweet science. There can be no better person than this.
The only question is, where will you be when this historic night of action takes place?
