India’s shuttler Lakshya Sen crashed out of the All England Open on Friday after losing in the quarter-final against Mark Caljove of the Netherlands. The 19-year-old failed to overcome Kailjov’s challenge and fought hard 17-21 21-16 17-21 in a 55-minute struggle. Lakshya suffered a loss in the first game but came back strongly in the second game and gave a tough fight to the opponent in the third game. But in the final game of the match, Caljou showed his patience and experience to progress to the semi-finals of the competition.
Lakshya became the youngest Indian to reach the quarter-finals of the All England Open on Thursday, defeating France’s Thomas Roulex 21-18, 21-17 in the second round.

Earlier in the day, the women’s doubles pair of Ashwini Ponnappa and N Sikki Reddy were eliminated from the competition after losing the quarter-finals to Selena Pike and Cheryl Seanen of the Netherlands in straight games. The Indian pair lost 12-21 12-21 to the 24-minute pair of Selena and Cheryl in 22 minutes.
PV Sindhu will next take on Akane Yamaguchi of Japan in their quarter-final match.
