India’s badminton player Lakshya Sen reached the quarter-finals of the All England Open on Thursday, while HS Prannoy was eliminated from the competition. Lakshya Sen defeated France’s Thomas Roulex 21-18, 21-17 in the second round, while world number one Kento Momota defeated Prannoy 21-15, 21-14 in the second round. While Lakshya’s match ended within 53 minutes, Momota did well with Prannoy and they defeated him in the second round in 48 minutes.
Earlier on Thursday, India dropped the doubles pair of Satvikasairaj Rankireddy and Ashwini Ponnappa from the current All England Open. The pair were beaten by Yuki Kaneko and Misaki Matsutomo of Japan 21–19, 21–9 in the second round.
The match proved unilateral as the Japanese pair won the Indian pair in just 35 minutes.
India’s shuttlers HS Prannoy, Sameer Verma, and Sai Praneeth also opened their All England Open campaign on Wednesday, winning their first round games.

However, ace Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal opted out of the event after retiring after an injury in a first-round match (21-8, 10-4) against Danish badminton player Mia Blichfeldt.
Ace India’s shuttler PV Sindhu also won in the second round of the tournament over Malaysia’s Sonia Chiha. Sindhu overcame the first round challenge as she won 21–11, 21–17 in 39 minutes. In addition, the Indian men’s doubles pair of Chirag Shetty and Satvikasairaj Ranakireddy reached the second round of the showpiece event.
