In Age of Empires 3, only one civilisation had an army of camel riders: India when under the rule of Mughal emperor Akbar. India was a part of the Asian Dynasties expansion pack which also added the ancient civilisations of Japan and China to the game teeming with European factions. Now, with Age of Empires 4, a total of eight asymmetric civilisations have been confirmed and more could be added later. These are the English, the French, the Holy Roman Empire, Russia, the Chinese, the Mongols, the Delhi Sultanate and the Abbasid Dynasty.
As per the developers, “The Abbasid Dynasty’s focus on technology, powered by their unique landmark—the House of Wisdom—will allow players to choose unique upgrade opportunities. Their unique units include Camel Archers and Riders.” Here’s a look at the Camel Archer unit of the Abbasid Dynasty.
Next up is naval warfare which was a much-loved aspect of Age of Empires 3. It is not a wild guess that some newcomers to the game learned some of the naval words like a broadside attack from playing the game. So, are you imagining blasting off chunks of wood and metal from the opponent’s warship or bringing down a fort from afar with your mortar-firing vessel? Take a look and figure out what Age of Empires 4 has in store.
It’s not just the cannons this time. What looks like flaming arrows have arrived too. The specialised units are going to be there just like last time but we expect more of them, don’t we? Those fishing boats were so damn precious back then, racking up our food.
