In 15 days, active cases in Karnataka have almost doubled from 5,824 on March 1 to March 18. While active cases remained below 7,000 as of March 8, the number increased from March 9 when the state saw an increase in new cases. .
In four days, more than a thousand were shot in active cases and 8,114 by 12 March, and 10,220 on 17 March. About 72% (8,122) of the total active cases are in Bengaluru urban district. There were 5,189 active cases in the district on 9 March.
Highest during October
The number of active cases in the state increased from 12 September 97,815 to 1,12,783 on 3 October. Subsequently, the state is witnessing a steady decline, and the number of active cases has come down by 48%, to 55,017. On 31 October.
By the end of the year (on 31 December), active cases had declined to 11,271. As of 31 January, this number had come down to 6,029. The number came down to 5,804 in a month till 28 February.
TAC Recommendations
However, the state’s COVID-19 Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) on March 15 recommended some stringent measures, including limiting cinematography seating to 50% and online for all classes except 10th and 12th standard. New cases
Meanwhile, Karnataka on Thursday registered 1,488 new cases of COVID-19, taking the total to 9,65,102. Of these, 925 cases are in Bengaluru urban district.
With eight deaths, the toll increased to 12,415. This is in addition to 19 deaths of patients due to COVID-19 causes.
On Thursday, 341 persons were discharged, taking the total recoveries to 9,41,309. Of the remaining 11,359 active patients, 131 are being monitored in the ICU. While the positivity rate for the day was 1.59%, the case fatality rate (CFR) touched 0.53%.
93,370 trials were performed in the last 24 hours, including 87,397 RT-PCR tests. With this, the total number of trials increased to 2,01,01,442.
