The Indian women’s football team is gaining experience playing matches against quality opponents like Uzbekistan and Belarus, with midfielder Indumati Kathiresan, who has been named captain for the above two matches, to be held in Uzbekistan. Already training in Uzbekistan, the Indian women’s team will play against the hosts on 5 April and against Belarus on 8 April. “I am really thankful that we got trained for so many months, even safely, during the pandemic situation. It helped us a lot,” All India Football Federation official website quoted Indumati as saying.
In matches to be held in Uzbekistan, India played three friends in Turkey against quality opposition such as Serbia, Russia and Ukraine.
He said, “We got a chance to play three good matches in Turkey. We gave it our best in all three matches and gained a lot of experience against quality opponents. Now that we are in Uzbekistan, we will do the same good work.” We have many young, energetic players in the team.

After being named captain of the side for two friends in Uzbekistan, Indumati called it a “proud moment”.
