After India’s international season ended on Sunday, coach Ravi Shastri praised Team India for having a “lifetime season”. As his comments, Virat Kohli-led India beat England by seven runs in the third ODI to win the three-match series 2–1. With this, India defeated England in all three formats this year. The side won the Test series 3–1, T20I series 3–2 and then the ODI series 2–1. Taking to Twitter, Shastri wrote: “Congratulations for living and having a season in the toughest times in all formats and hemispheres against 2 of the best teams in the world. Take a bow.”
In the third ODI against England at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune, Sam Curran played an unbeaten innings of 95 runs, but his innings went in vain as India registered a seven-match win in the third ODI in a three-match series 2–2. However, in the final over, T Natarajan defended 14 runs and the hosts won the series.

Rishabh Pant (78), Hardik Pandya (64), and Shikhar Dhawan (67) recorded more than 50 scores for India, a 330-run target for the visitors.
Prior to the series against England, India had succeeded in defeating Australia 2–1 in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against all odds.

The Indian side suffered multiple injuries and Virat Kohli returned home as he was expecting the birth of his first child with his wife Anushka Sharma.
However, led by Ajinkya Rahane, India registered a 2–1 series win against Australia. The Men in Blue also beat Australia in the three-match T20 series and the Indian team only suffered a one-day series Down Under.
