Rishabh Pant continued his fine run with the bat and scored another half-century as India set a target of 330 runs for England in the third ODI on Sunday. Pant scored the highest runs for the hosts, scoring 78 runs in 68 balls, with his innings hitting five fours and four fours. As he looked ready for his first ODI century, a stunning reflex catch by England captain Jose Butler behind the stumps covered Pant’s stunning innings. Sam Curran bowled a full length ball outside the stumps and Pant decided to flick it to the leg side, managing only a thick outside edge that was short of the wicket-keeper. Butler made a brilliant comeback despite having a wrong foot and pulled off a brilliant catch going to his weak left to end the dangerous partnership.

The left-handed batsman, who came to bat after India’s captain Virat Kohli lost cheaply, batted with great intentions and made his chances after a cautious start. Soon after KL Rahul lost the final match, he struck a solid 99-run partnership for the fifth wicket with Hardik Pandya.

As India prepared for another big score, batting first in the series, the two players went out in a very short period of time to allow the spectators to pull things back into the series decider.

A brilliant 21-ball easy partnership from Krunal Pandya and Shardul Thakur helped India cross the 300 mark and score a challenging total for the visitors.
