Karim Benzema was close to joining Juventus before he moved to Real Madrid, claims Claudio Marchicio.
Benzema became one of Real’s greatest goalkeepers since moving from Lyon in 2009, scoring 272 goals in 545 seasons.
However, he was initially unsure whether his future would lie in Madrid and according to former Juventus and Italy midfielder Marchicio, he chose a lot to continue his career instead of Turin.
What did Marchicio say?
Interviewed by Youtube Channel ‘Cronache de Spogliaatio’, Marchicio said of Benzema: “He is a great player. Benzema was very close to joining Juventus that year with Cerro Ferrara coaching the team.
“It’s a pity, given that, after CR7 [Cristiano Ronaldo]Is farewell to [from Madrid], Only he is scoring “.
When did Benjema almost join Juventus?
The season Marchisio refers to the 2009–10 campaign, with Ferrara taking over as manager at Juventus prior to that season.
Benzima transferred from boyhood club Lyon to Real in a € 35 million transfer that summer, and he has been with Real ever since.
Ferrara will soon regret missing out on Benzema – he was sacked later that season, only to be eliminated in the Champions League group stage after finishing in a disappointing seventh place in Serie A with Juve.
Meanwhile, Benzema has continued to score consistently during his 12-year career at Santiago Bernabeu, a burden of goals even after Juventus stepped in after former teammate Ronaldo joined the Italian Giants in 2018. Is doing heavy
The Frenchman ranks fifth on Real’s list of all-time top scorers – a chart topped by Ronaldo.
