Sensex gained 568 points;  Nifty reaches 14,500 level

The 30-share BSE index closed up 568.38 points or 1.17% at 49,008.50. The broader NSE Nifty rose 182.40 points, or 1.27%, to 14,507.30 points.

The equity benchmark Sensex gained 568 points and the Nifty gained 14,500 points on Friday amid a positive trend in global markets, leading the index major HDFC Twins, HUL and ICICI Bank.

The 30-share BSE index closed up 568.38 points or 1.17% at 49,008.50. The broader NSE Nifty rose 182.40 points, or 1.27%, to 14,507.30 points.

Bajaj Finance was over 4% in the Sensex pack, followed by Titan, Asian Paints, HUL, Bharti Airtel, Bajaj Auto and Nestle India.

On the other hand, Powergrid, IndusInd Bank, ITC and Maruti were lagging behind.

According to traders, the domestic indices saw an uptrend and closed on a strong note following a positive trend in the global equity markets.

Elsewhere in Asia, nutrition ended with significant gains in Shanghai, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Seoul.

Stock exchanges in Europe were also trading on a positive note in mid-session deals.

Meanwhile, global oil benchmark Brent crude was up 2.05% at US $ 63.22 a barrel.
