India batsman Shreyas Iyer crashed out of the ongoing ODI series against England on Wednesday and was ruled out of the game of opening his left shoulder in Pune with serious doubts for the first part of the IPL starting next month. The incident happened in the eighth over of England’s innings when Shreyas drove on Johnny Bairstow’s fast bowler Shardul Thakur. The 26-year-old looked in tremendous pain as he left the field with his shoulder. “It is unlikely that he will play the first part of the IPL,” a BCCI source said.

On Tuesday, the BCCI had said, “Shreyas Iyer left his left shoulder (partially dislocated) in the 8th over while fielding. He was taken for a further scan.”

He captains the Delhi Capital in the IPL, which begins on 9 April.

Mumbaikar scored just 6 runs while batting.

Shreyas led Delhi Capital to the finals in the previous edition of the league.
