Jameis Winston gets emotional shedding tears, discusses attracting trees: ‘I really like Drew trees’

Drew Breeds may retire, but Jemis Winston will take him with her in the future.

Winston spent a year on the bench behind the recently retired Saints starter, learning behind one of the best to do it, and clearly the impact was felt. In a video posted by the Saints on Tuesday, Winston confirmed that he had become teary and emotional when discussing this effect on him, his career, and even his family.

Winston’s complete response:

It was a dream of mine to be able to do the entire season with Drew Breeze. And for him to put his arm around me, just give me any encouraging words, I was touched by him for the flexibility, the passion, the way he went and approached every single day, even after that, for a story , Because he doesn’t even know how real he is to me and my family. But I am not even going to share what they have shared with me. I do not even remember.

Then, got a chance to play in the playoffs? Like, getting a chance to throw a touchdown in the playoff after winning a playoff game. Like, I love football. This is what I have done all my life. And someone whom I see, that I admire, whom I can touch, was my companion, and I got a chance to serve him? Like, man, I’m speechless. It really makes me emotional, because I really love Drew Tree. Like, I don’t think he understands. I know my wife does, I know my family does. What no one understands about Y’all’s impact is that he and several other quarterbacks were near me as he grew up in Bessemer, Alabama.

Y’all never understand, many people don’t understand the human aspect of an athlete, but – nah, man. Just know that I like Drew trees, for real, like I really do. I was just glad that I was witness to what he did.

Winston spent the 2020 season as the Breeze backup, although when Breeds was injured, he received limited snacks, choosing as quarterback for Tysem Hill instead of head coach Sean Peyton. Winstein re-signed the post with the Saints, hoping that he might be named a Saints when he won a camp battle with Hill in 2021.

And if it does, it is expected that Breeze’s influence will increase during the 2021 season.
