Maruti Suzuki India, the country’s largest carmaker, said on Monday that it would increase prices in its model range from next month to offset the impact of higher input costs. In the past year, the cost of the company’s vehicles has been adversely affected by the increase in the cost of various vehicles, the auto chief said in a filing.
“Therefore, in April 2021, it has become imperative for the company to pass through some of the above-mentioned additional costs to customers,” he said.
Price increases will vary for different models.
The company, however, has not intended to take over from next month.
On 18 January this year, the automaker announced an increase in prices of select models by up to 34,000 due to an increase in input costs.
The MSI sells several models ranging from entry-level hatchbacks to S-CROSS crossovers, MS 2.99 and ex 12.39 (ex-showroom prices Delhi).
