Former India batsman Akash Chopra reacted sharply to former England captain Michael Vaughan’s tweet on the prediction for the upcoming three-match ODI series between India and England. Vaughan pointed to the absence of Jofra Archer and Joe Root from the England ODI squad and predicted a 3–0 win for India. Akash Chopra quotes Vaughan’s tweet and suggests that Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Shami are also missing in India. Vaughan tweeted, “Prediction of early one-day series …. India will win 3-0 !!! No root or archer.” Aakash Chopra commented: “No Bumrah no Shami no Jadeja. #OnOn.”

Bumrah was dropped from the squad before the fourth Test in Ahmedabad, India and was not included in the five-match T20I series.

The cricketer recently married TV presenter Sanjana Ganesan and has not even been named in the ODI team.

Shami, who fractured his right wrist during the first Test against Australia in November 2020, has not been seen in action since.

Jadeja, who was injured during the Australia Test, began his rehabilitation earlier this month and he can be seen on the field for the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL.

In England’s camp, Archer was ruled out of the ODI due to an elbow injury, while Root came back home after the Test as part of England’s rotation policy.

Promoted

The three-match ODI series starts in Pune on Tuesday and the remaining two ODIs are scheduled for 26 and 28 March.

All the games will be played at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.
