Officials said gunmen killed one person, injured five others and dispatched people to an illegal mass gathering in Philadelphia.
Police officers said shots fired in and out of a rental hall adjoining hot pot food in North Philadelphia’s Niketown neighborhood around 3:45 a.m. Saturday.
A 29-year-old man was shot 14 times and pronounced dead minutes at Temple University Hospital, police said. The three men were aged 33, 38 and 41, and a 30-year-old woman was also shot; All were stable at the hospital, police said.
Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw told reporters that at least 150 people fled to save their lives.
He said that such large gatherings under the orders of COVID-19 are illegal and that the police will increase foot, bicycle and foot patrol where large gatherings can take place.
