Naxalite arms manufacturing unit busted in Maharashtra-Chhattisgarh border

A Naxal arms manufacturing unit on the Maharashtra-Chhattisgarh border was destroyed on Friday in an inter-state operation led by the C-60 commando unit of the Gadchiroli police, a senior official said.

Sandeep Patil, Deputy Inspector General of Police of Gadchiroli Range in Chhattisgarh, said that a soldier was injured in firing with Naxalites during the operation in Maad area, about five kilometers inside Chhattisgarh.

A helicopter has been pressed into service to help the police team, he said, adding that an arms manufacturing unit of the Naxalites was destroyed.

The DIG said that the operation has been going on in the Koparshi forest of Bhamargarh taluka of Gadchiroli for the last 48 hours.
