Theft of the temple, the value of gold and silver jewelery stolen 9.25 lakhs stolen

Temple III is located 100 meters from the Town Police Station and District Police Office.

Unknown miscreants broke into the Karkachetu Polamba temple in Peda Waltair and escaped with 350 grams of gold jewelery including four kg of silver, gold crown of the goddess, worth a total of ₹ 9.25 lakh in the early hours of Sunday.

The Temple III is located just 100 meters from the Town Police Station and the District Police Office.

According to reports, the miscreants allegedly entered the temple through the back door. They enter the sanctum sanctorum and run away with gold and silver jewelery of the temple. Early in the morning, temple officials discovered the theft and informed the police. Police inspected the scene along with the CLUES team and dog squad.

“There were about 17 CCTV cameras in the temple, but the thieves took away the digital video recorder (DVR) of the cameras. Assistant Commissioner of Police (CCS) Shravan Kumar said that special teams were formed to apprehend the accused Hindu.

Sources said that the watchman informed the police that some people came to the temple in the early hours and asked them if they could sleep in the temple premises. When they refused, the miscreants had left by chance, Mr. Shravan Kumar said.

Visakhapatnam (East) MLA Velagapudi Ramakrishna Babu visited the temple and spoke to the temple authorities as well as the police. Darshan was discontinued for the people.

Meanwhile, Telugu Nadu Students’ Federation (TNSF) state president Pranab Gopal alleged that under the YSR Congress Party government’s rule, not only the public, but also the temples were not protected. He demanded an investigation into the incident.
