England batsman David Malan surpassed Pakistan’s Babar Azam to become the fastest batsman to score 1000 runs in T20 International (T20E). Malan touched the milestone on Saturday during the fifth T20I against India. He achieved Azam’s record of 26 innings in his 24th innings. During the match, Malan smashed 68 off 46 balls. Third on the list is India’s captain Virat Kohli, who scored 1000 T20Is in 27 innings, followed by Australia’s Aaron Finch and KL Rahul who took 29 innings.
The half-centuries from Kohli and Rohit Sharma put England at 188/8 for the Indian bowlers to register a 36-run win in the fifth T20I at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday.
With this win, India won the five-match series 3–2 and now the two teams will face each other in a three-match ODI series.
Kohli and the boys made a clinical performance in the series decider and England had no answer on them by the hosts.
Promoted
Kohli’s decision to promote himself as an opener did wonders in the fifth and final T20I against England as India posted a total of 224/2. Kohli hit an innings of 80 runs, while Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav scored 64 and 32 runs respectively.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar also played a very important role in the win as the bowler conceded just 15 runs in his four overs and took two wickets.
