Immediately publish caste census report: Siddaramaiah

Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday urged Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa to immediately accept the caste census report and publish it.

When his focus was on the usefulness of the caste census in light of the ongoing campaigns for reservation by various communities, he said that the caste census was completed during his tenure as chief minister. The report was later ready, but former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy refused to accept it. Even before the Karnataka State Permanent Backward Classes Commission demanded its approval, Chief Minister Shri BS Yeddyurappa has also not accepted the report for the last two years.

According to a question, he said that he was not aware of the reason for the delay in accepting the report by successive governments.
