Dattatreya Hosabale is the new General Secretary of RSS

Mr. Hosabale replaced Suresh Bhaiyyaji Joshi, who has held the post since 2009.

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on 20 March selected Dattatreya Hosabale as the next Sarkaryavah (General Secretary).

Mr. Hosabale replaced Suresh Bhaiyyaji Joshi, who has held the post since 2009.

This decision was taken at the annual conference of All India Pratinidhi Sabha of RSS, which is near Bangalore this year.

Mr. Hosabale was serving as Sah-Sarkaryavah of the organization.

From Hosabale village in Soraba taluk of Karnataka’s Shivamogga district, Mr. Hosabale joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh in 1949 and then the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), a student organization in 19 ale2. He became a full-time worker of ABVP in 19 ale. General Secretary of ABVP for 15 years.

Mr. Hosabale remained active during the Emergency and remained in jail for over a year. He was instrumental in establishing the Center for Youth Development in Guwahati and the World Students Organization and Youth (WOSY).

His elevation to the post was expected three years ago, but it was delayed.
