Cooperative Minister ST Somasekhar said on Friday that a detailed report has been submitted to Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa on setting up a Film City in Mysuru and an allocation of ₹ 100 crore has been sought.
Talking to journalists in Mysuru, the minister, who is also in-charge of Mysuru district, said that setting up of Film City in Mysuru was announced in the Legislative Council after getting approval from the Chief Minister.
Information Broadcasting Minister CC Patil had recently announced that the film would be set in Himavu near City Mysuru. Film City was originally proposed for Mysuru, but was later shifted to Bengaluru. However, Mr. Patil said that it was decided to shift the project back to Mysuru as parcels of land ranging from 50 to 70 acres were not available in Bengaluru.
Mr. Somasekhar also said that the government has given permission to various cooperative institutions to recruit employees. Permission has been given to appoint 4-5 employees in cooperative banks, cooperative milk unions, urban cooperative banks, and credit cooperative societies in the state as per requirement.
Referring to the Congress attack on the ruling BJP over the CD episode related to former minister Ramesh Jarkiholi, Mr. Somasekhar said that the saffron party does not need to learn morality from the Congress. He was allegedly referring to a slut video featuring a former minister in the Siddaramaiah government.
Although an investigation conducted later ruled that the video was fake, the former minister had lost his respect. Mr. Somasekhar criticized the “political campaigns” for the character abuses and defamation being carried out in the state.
He also said that he was confident that Mr. Jarkholi would come out clearly in the investigation of the case being carried out by a Special Investigation Team appointed by the government.
