A self-proclaimed ‘tantrik’ named Yarla Balraju, 35, of Bibinagar, who betrayed the innocent people with the promise of solving his problem with black magic, has been arrested by the Hyderabad city police on Friday.
Inspector k. A sleeping team of the Commissioner Task Force (North Zone) led by Nageswara Rao arrested Balaraju and seized 570 grams of old jewelry and a mobile phone worth ₹ 25.65 lakh from his possession.
Until now, he had cheated six people under the guise of solving their problems through black magic, officer of special duty (task force) P.K. Radha Kishan Rao said.
“He goes to the victims’ homes and convinces them that he can solve their problems by performing some rituals like the consecration of the deity at the place of daily worship and then a large amount under the guise of worshiping to solve their problem. Let’s collect cash. ” Gold ornaments ran away from the victims, ”he said.
The accused pledged some gold jewelery with KLM, Muthoot, IIFL gold finance companies. With the help of goldsmiths, Mr. Balraju used to melt the yellow metal and mix other metals to increase the volume and then resolved to make a quick buck in association with gold finance companies.
Mr. Balaraju, along with the seized material, was handed over to the Market Police for further investigation.
