The Lok Sabha will take the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2021 and the Constitution (Scheduled Castes) Order (Amendment) Bill, 2021 today.
On Thursday, the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha discussed various issues, including questions about roads and infrastructure, new vehicle scrapping policy and Modi government’s record in dealing with dissatisfaction. The Rajya Sabha passed the Insurance Amendment Bill 2021, which allows the maximum foreign investment in an insurance company to be increased from 49% to 74% amid criticism from opposition parties over a clause enabling “control and ownership” by foreign investors.
The first part of the budget session of Parliament, which began with President Ram Nath Kovind’s address on 29 January, concluded on 29 February. The second part of the budget session began on 7 March.
