India skipper Virat Kohli praised Suryakumar Yadav’s innings of 57 runs off just 31 balls as India won the fourth T20 eight-run against England in Ahmedabad to tie the five-match series 2-2. Kohli said that Suryakumar, who was playing his first innings in international cricket, had a “great performance” and praised the Mumbai Indians batsman for his fearlessness, something Kohli said Suryakumar had gained from the Indian Premier League. Kohli said after the match on Thursday, “Special mention to Surya, he batted brilliantly in his first match. Like Ishaan.
Kohli said of Suryakumar running to bat after Rohit Sharma’s early dismissal, “It was not easy to walk to three in your first game and we were all taken aback.”
Kohli said in his praise, “He has stamped his authority and likes Shreyas, Hardik and Pant. I am a fan of these youngsters.”
While a total of 185 was a good one to defend, the bowlers worked for India in the second half, especially at the death.
Jason Roy (40 for 27) and Ben Stokes (46 for 23) threatened to take the game away from India at different stages, but Shardul Thakur (3/42), Hardik Pandya (2/16) and Bhubaneswar Kumar (1/30) bowled well to overcome death to chase England.
“Shardul swung it but our powerplay kept England under pressure and under pressure,” Kohli said.

“I am more than happy for Hardik who bowled his four overs. It is good for us if he does it for us.
“He was powerful with the new ball. He has skill with the ball and also clicked 140+. He put enough pressure on Roy and then also dismissed Sam Curran in the end. His role in defense at the end. Is very important, ”said Kohli.
