A top official said Havells India, a company that makes electrical goods, is ranked among the top three players in products in the small appliances segment.
“We want to be among the top two brands in each category in the small appliances segment,” said Ravindra Singh Negi, president-electrical consumer durables.
“In the mixer-grinder and mixer-juicer grinder category, we aim to be among the top three in the next two years,” he said.
“We are also aiming to double our small home appliances business over the next two years,” he said.
Small household appliances, which mainly include kitchen appliances, apparel-care products, climate control and alcohol consumption, are estimated to be worth around ₹ 5,000- ₹ 6,000 crore in India.
Mr. Negi said that about 55% of the small home appliances business relied on two categories of mixer grinder and juicer mixer grinder and the company was currently among the top five brands in the segment. For other categories, it was already among the top three, he said.
Recently, Havells will help increase its stake in the mixer grinder due to the introduction of its low-noise mixer grinder ‘Silencio’ in the premium-equipment segment “very fast.”
Mr. Negi said that the silencio was fully developed at Havells’ in-house design center and R&D facility. He said, “In each of the categories I mentioned, the products are being tested, or are working on those products. We invest about 1-1.5% of revenue in research, innovation and design. Are, “he said.
When asked about consumer demand, Mr. Negi said that the company saw a revival in demand with the festive season, which had continued since then.
