Parliament proceedings |  Government.  Naqvi says there is no belief in vote bank politics

He said that all sections of the society including minorities are being benefited from the welfare schemes launched by the Modi government.

The Narendra Modi government believes in empowerment without appeal and works for development without discrimination on the basis of religion, Union Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said on Thursday.

During the Question Hour in the Lok Sabha, Shri Naqvi said that all sections of the society including minorities are being benefited from the welfare schemes launched by the Modi government.

The minister also said that the central government is working for the betterment of weaker sections and economically backward people. He also said that the Prime Minister abolished the practice of triple talaq to empower Muslim women.

In response to a question by Kerala Government (M) member Thomas Chazhikadan, Mr. Naqvi said, “Our government neither believes in vote bank politics nor in the future.”

Mr. Chajikadan demanded that a committee be formed on the lines of the Sachar Committee which examined the socio-economic conditions of Muslims, should be set up for the Christian community in Kerala.

Congress leader Ravneet Singh Bittu raised the issue of Sikhs in Jammu and Kashmir who form the second largest minority group after Kashmiri Pandits.
