The military hardware is being manufactured at Ordnance Factory Medak, Yedumailaram in Sangareddy district. The FICV will be equipped with an instant fire detection and suppression system (IFDSS).
The only ordnance factory in the Telugu-speaking states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, which has played a strategic role in manufacturing and supplying military hardware since its inception in 1984, is developing a prototype for wheeled armored combat vehicles that are plain Moves on the surface.
The factory has also made advances in key Sarath BMP2 armored vehicles, which have rolled out over 3,000 armored vehicles so far. According to him, the hull and turret of the Arjuna Main Battle Tank (MK-1A), which was handed over to the Indian Army by Prime Minister Narendra Modi last month, are built in the Ordnance Factory Medak. “Even the first Arjun MBT tank was assembled here,” he said.
“It is the only factory in the country that produces infantry combat vehicles. Mr. Prasad said that the quality of the vehicles is the best in the world.
