Addressing a rally at Garbetta in Pasim Medinipur, the TMC supremo claimed that BJP leaders arrive here in helicopters and planes from outside to woo voters just before the elections.
Recognizing that the relief after the cyclone Amfan by his government could be remembered by “one or two” beneficiaries, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said on Thursday that BJP leaders were nowhere to be seen during the crisis .
Addressing a rally at Garbetta in Pasim Medinipur, the TMC supremo claimed that BJP leaders arrive here in helicopters and planes from outside to woo voters just before the elections.
The TMC government had spent thousands of crores of rupees for the people affected by the cyclone. There could have been one or two exceptions… but we kept running on behalf of the people. Where were the BJP leaders then? In times of human suffering, they are always absent.
Ms Banerjee alleged that TMC would never allow the National Population Register (NPR) practice in West Bengal, saying, “The BJP will omit the names of voters if they are not found at home during the enumerators’ visit.” They will evict you (people). But we will not allow them to update the register here.
He said, “No citizen of any country of any family can be evacuated from Bengal.”
The NPR is a document with the names of “common residents” of the country. Branding the BJP as a “party of rioters”, he said that “We do not want violence, we do not want bloodshed and we do not want the politics of vengeance to enter Bengal.”
