IPL 2021: Suresh Raina “waiting impatiently” to join Chennai Super Kings Camp

Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina, who missed the Indian Premier League 2020, is “super excited” about joining the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) team ahead of this year’s tournament. Raina missed the 13th edition of the Cash-Rich League after being ruled out of the tournament due to personal reasons. The star batsman has been a key player for CSK and in his absence, the team had a disappointing performance in last year’s IPL. The Chennai franchise finished seventh in the IPL points table but after Raina returned to the fold, CSK would look to be on their way to victory in IPL 2021.

CSK shared Raina’s practice video on Wednesday, in which the batsman can be seen hitting all his trademark shots.

“In awe of Southeastern! #Chinhatla – #WhistlePodu is coming soon with #Yellove,” CSK tweeted.

Reacting to the video, Raina said, “Super excited and eagerly waiting to come to our lair.”

Meanwhile, CSK captain MS Dhoni has started his preparations for the IPL season starting on 9 April.

Last week, CSK posted a video on Twitter in which Dhoni can be seen hitting the ball outside the park during the net session.

CSK will make their season debut against last year’s runners-up Delhi Capitals on April 10 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Prior to the mini-auction, the Dhoni-led CSK had dropped Harbhajan Singh, Kedar Jadhav, Murali Vijay and Piyush Chawla from the squad.

Shane Watson, who retired after the IPL 2020 season, will also not be seen in action. Apart from the Australian all-rounder, no other foreign players were omitted from the team.

Promoted

In the players’ auction held on February 18, Chennai signed Moeen Ali and K.K. Bought Gautham. The side also included Cheteshwar Pujara in their ranks for IPL 2021.

CSK retained the players: MS Dhoni, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Suresh Raina, Sam Curran, Josh Hazlewood, Imran Tahir, Faf du Plessis, Dwayne Bravo, Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar, Karn Sharma, Ambati Rayudu, Mitchell Sentner, Ravindra Jadeja, Narayan Jagdis KM Asif, Lungi Engidi, Sai Kishore
