Senior IPS officer Hemant Nagrale, who is holding the additional charge of Director General of Police (DGP) of Maharashtra, will be the new Mumbai Police Commissioner and will be replaced by Singh, who has been appointed by state Home Minister Anil Deshmukh.

Earlier in the day, Mr. Deshmukh, who met Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, announced Singh’s Sachin Vej episode on Twitter amid media speculation.

Mr. Vaze focuses on an investigation by the National Investigation Agency in a case related to the recovery of an SUV with explosives near Ambani’s house in Mumbai.

Mr. Vaze, who was arrested on March 13 for his alleged role in the crime, was recently linked to the crime intelligence unit (CIU) of the city’s crime branch.
