Mysuru City Police said that accused Megha alias Harini, who had a Facebook profile with a different name (Chinugouda Chinugouda), sent it to a youth from Mysuru, requesting him to befriend Ravi. Sending pictures of a beautiful girl, Megha introduced herself as a resident of Vijgar 2nd Stage in Mysuru, whose father was two petrol bunk and two bars.
Megha claimed that she saw her near the water tank in Vijayanagar, Mysuru, claiming that she was desperately in love with him. Soon, Megha and Ravi exchange their mobile numbers and start talking with each other.

However, gold jewelery was never returned even after several days. Initially, she cited several reasons for the delay and eventually switched off the mobile phone and became unrecoverable.
Ravi approached the Metagalli Police Station in Mysuru on February 20, 2021 and filed a complaint against him. During the investigation, the police came to know that Shivau, who was also sent to collect cash and jewelry, did not see him. Like Ravi, Shivu was also in touch with Megha through Facebook.
