In a letter to the Prayagraj administration, officials say that they sleep poorly every morning
University of Allahabad vice-chancellor (vice-chancellor) Sangeeta Srivastava has created a controversy in Prayagraj after allegedly complaining to the district administration, due to which he was called Ajan Every morning from a mosque near his residence.
A copy of the letter, written on 3 March, was widely shared on social media, although it could not be independently verified from the VC.
In the letter, Ms. Srivastava writes to District Magistrate (DM) Bhanu Pratap Goswami that every day around 5.30 pm, her sleep was “loudly disturbed” AjanFrom “Mike” by a cleric of a nearby mosque.
“Even after being very upset, I do not sleep. This causes headaches during the day, reducing work hours.
Ms. Srivastava loudly appealed to the DM to provide a swift response “to restore some peace and tranquility in the minds of all the people” Ajan.
However, she clarified that she was not against any religion, caste or creed.
“They can perform Ajan Without Mike so that others are not disturbed, ”said Ms. Srivastava.
Ms. Srivastava referred to a 2020 judgment of the Allahabad High Court that allows Ajan In mosques but without amplifiers or loudspeakers.
In his letter, he also raised his objection to the announcement Sehri (Food eaten in the morning by Muslims during Ramadan). He said that this practice is also a disturbance for other people.
Ms. Srivastava could not be contacted. His officer on special duty Nikhil Anand said that the vice-chancellor was “busy in a family function.”
Mr. Anand admitted that a letter was widely circulated and did not deny its contents. He said that there has been no response to the letter from the administration so far.
