The city police has launched an initiative with the help of officials from Greater Chennai Corporation, Social Welfare Department and non-governmental organizations to rescue abandoned / homeless persons through the helpline.
Under this initiative, the Greater Chennai Police Helpline is synchronized with technical assistance, liaison with NGOs and other government services to spare citizens in need of medical assistance.
A senior police officer said, “108 ambulances, NGO volunteers, hospitals, police personnel and corporation services are collectively coordinated to provide assistance to the needy.
