Rail projects organized as state fails to pay

If the MMTS phase two project is a classic case of a joint venture between the railways and the government caught in a blind alley, there are other cost-sharing projects that either run at snail speed or are stalled. This is due to delays in land acquisition and funding from the respective governments of both Telugu states.

Inside Telangana, the 151-km Manoharbad-Kothapalli new line project was approved in 2006-07 to accept one-third of the cost by the government for ₹ 1,160 crore and to provide land-free and free annuity for the first five years with commission Went. The first section of the 32-km Manoharbad-Gajwel is done and the Railways has allocated ₹ 325 crore in the current budget.

About 2,681.73 acres of revenue has been handed over to the Railways and 5.43 acres of forest land have been handed over in Siddipet, Medak, Rajanna Sirisila and Karimnagar, though the release of funds “does not equal the expenditure incurred by us”, revealed senior railway officials.

New line project

The 54-km Bhadrachalam-Sattupalli new line project was approved to share the cost with Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) for 28928 crores in 2010-11. While 800.85 acres and 10.81 forest land were acquired out of 853.04 acres of revenue land, approximately SC 618.55 crore 5 267 crore is part of SCCL with Railways now allocated, so officials expect progress to be quick .

Akkannapet-Medak is a 17-km new line cleared at -118 crore in 2012-13 with 50% of the cost to be borne by the government. Railways has allocated ₹ 83.6 crore this year and land acquisition is complete, but no government funds have been released.

In order to re-implement the MMTS Phase II 85-km project, two-thirds of the cost was accepted by the government in 2012-13 ed 817 crore. The first section of 5.75 km of Telpur-Ramachandrapuram was commissioned and 12 km quadruple was completed between Maula Ali-Ghatkesar. Work is being done in Malkajgiri-Bolarum-Medhachal and Falaknuma-Umdanagar sections.

Railways have allocated ₹ 10 crores after claiming to spend more than ₹ 500 crores while pending government payments. 400 crores. Also, Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple is nearing completion in Yadadari, but MMTS Phase II expansion from Ghatkesar is 33 km non-starter as the government has kept silence on its two-thirds stake of ₹ 412 crore after showing interest. .

Andhra side

The neighboring state of Andhra Pradesh is also not far behind this score. Nadikudi-Srikalahasti 309 km new line project was approved in 2011-12 for 28 2,289 crores with 50% stake and free land. A 45 km stretch was completed at New Pidugurala-Sawalipuram. However, 5138.94 acres of revenue land are yet to be acquired, even though 293.68 acres of forest has been taken up in Guntur, Prakasam and Nellore.

The Railways has allocated ₹ 1144.4 crore, and work started between Gundalakamma-Kanigiri but the government money has not come up yet. Kotipalli-Narasapur 57 km new line project was approved in 2000-01 – 2,120 crore with 25% government share and 911.008 acres of land. Around 40% of the land acquisition has been completed and the bridges on the Gauthami, Vyantheya and Vashistha rivers are progressing with the Railways allocating ₹ 187 crore, but the only wait is of government funds.

The ₹ 2,706-crore Kadapa-Bengaluru 255-km new line project of 200–08 had an understanding of 50% government cost-sharing for 205 kilometers in South Central Railway. The 21 km Kadapa-Pendilmari was previously commissioned, but land and money are awaited from the government. Doubling and electrification at Vijayawada-Gudivada / Machilipatnam-Bhimavaram / Narasapur-Nidadavolu was approved at Rs.1,504 crore for 221 km with 50% cost to be borne by the Government in 2011-12.
