On Wednesday, developers of True Software Scandinavia, the caller ID app Truecaller, launched a new app Guardian for personal security. The app was designed jointly by the company’s teams in Stockholm and Bengaluru in the last 15 months.
“There are hundreds of apps on the App Store for personal security and location sharing. But none of them work in a way where you can engage your family, friends, community at large and law enforcers, ”said Alan Mamedi, CEO and co-president of True Software Scandinavia AB- Claimed the founder.
According to the company, Guardians come with a simple onboarding process. If you are already a Truecaller user, you can sign in with one tap. If you are not, your phone number will be verified using a missed call or OTP. The application requires three permissions: your location, contacts (so you can choose and invite your personal patron) and phone permission (to show your parents your phone status). It has an emergency button that comes to use in case of an emergency.
The patron is available for free download from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
Mr Mamedi said, “Parents are born with a simple question: How can we affect personal security, just as we crowdsource to protect against spam, scam and fraud.”
Truecaller has more than 200 million active users in India.
