A court here on Monday directed the Delhi Police to give copies of the charge sheet in the 2016 sedition case to former JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar and nine others.
The court placed the case on April 7 to examine the documents and granted bail to the seven accused. The seven accused include Aqib, Mujib, Umar Gul, Rais Rasool, Basharat Ali, Khalid Bashir, who were not arrested before the chargesheet was filed. The court granted him bail on a personal bond of ₹ 25,000 and a surety of the same amount.
Mr. Kumar, Omar Khalid, Anirban Bhattacharya and seven others were present in the court in compliance with the summons issued by the court after taking cognizance of the chargesheet. JNU alumni Mr. Khalid and Mr. Bhattacharya, including Mr. Kumar and others were accused of raising anti-India slogans.
The other seven accused charged in the case include Kashmiri students Aqib Hussain, Mujib Hussain, Munib Hussain, Umar Gul, Raiya Rasol, Basheer Bhat and Basharat. IPC sections 124 A (treason), 323 (voluntarily sentenced to hurt), 471 (to be used as a forged document or electronic record), 143 (punishment for being a member of an unlawful assembly), 149 (unlawful) on the accused. Being a member of the assembly), 147 (punishment for rioting) and 120B (criminal conspiracy).
