All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) ministers and other candidates filed nominations for the upcoming assembly elections in their respective constituencies on Monday.
District administration officials said 35 nominations were filed on Monday. Revenue Minister RB Udhayakumar, the current MLA from Tirumangalam constituency, once again filed nomination papers to contest from Tirumangalam constituency. He M. of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK). Will contest against Manimaran. Earlier, during the campaigning in Tirumangalam constituency, the minister expressed confidence that AIADMK would retain Tirumangalam.
Cooperative Minister Selur K. Raju filed his nomination for the Madurai West constituency. Mr. Raju, who was elected MLA for Madurai West constituency in the last two terms, DMK’s C.C. Will contest against Chinnamal.
Addressing media persons after filing the nomination, Mr. Raju said that under the AIADMK rule in Madurai, several development projects were carried out in the last 10 years.
The current AIADMK MLA from Melur P.K. Periyapullan aka Selvam also filed his pamphlets on Monday. G. of DMK Thalapati filed nomination to contest from Madurai North constituency. Madurai South SS Sarvanan MLA AIADMK filed his nomination. M. of the name Tamlir Kachi. Abbas also filed his nomination for the Madurai South constituency.
The current AIADMK MLA from Sholavandan constituency K. Manikam filed his pamphlets. P. of AIADMK Ayyappan filed his nomination for Usilampatti constituency.
AIADMK leader VV Rajan Chellappa, who is the sitting MLA of Madurai North constituency, filed nomination papers to contest in Tiruppurkundram assembly constituency.
