BJP candidate Vanathi Srinivasan said that Mr Hassan would return to acting after the election results, with the MNM president stating that there was nothing wrong in acting or practicing in the field of law or medicine.
Kamkal Haasan, the president of Makkal Nidi Maim, said that he was fighting on his strength, which was honesty, and the opposite camp did not have weakness.
Addressing reporters after filing his nomination, Mr. Haasan said that he chose the Coimbatore South Assembly constituency as there was an attempt to polarize it communally. “There is an attempt to destroy communal peace here. I want to be a voice against it.
Unsatisfied failed to develop the constituency he called, and he underscored his point by pointing to the delays in airport expansion, drainage in some areas, good roads and the absence of roads. He said that be it metro rail or other big ticket projects, promises were made but never kept.
Mr. Haasan said that he decided to contest from Coimbatore because he wanted a city known as ‘Manchester of the South’ so as not to lose its status and pride. Coimbatore South was a place close to his heart, he had visited that place many times and had friends here. Therefore, the outsider would not apply to that, he said.
Responding to BJP candidate Vanathi Srinivasan, he had said that Mr. Haasan would return to acting after the election results, with the MNM president stating that as professionals, there was nothing wrong in returning to practice or practice law or medicine .
Politics was not a profession for him as it was for others. He said, “Politics is my duty and to serve the people.”
