A court here on Monday directed the Delhi Police to give copies of the charge sheet in the 2016 sedition case to former Jawaharlal Nehru University Students Union (JNUSU) President Kanhaiya Kumar and 9 others.

Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Pankaj Sharma filed the case for April 7 to examine the documents in the case and also granted bail to the seven accused who were not arrested earlier in the case.

The seven accused include Aqib, Mujib, Umar Gul, Rais Rasool, Basharat Ali, Khalid Bashir who were not arrested before filing the chargesheet.

He applied for bail, after which the court granted him bail on a personal bond of ₹ 25,000 and a surety of the same amount.

Mr. Kumar, Umar Khalid (who is already in custody in the Delhi riots case), Anirban Bhattacharya and seven others were present in court in compliance with the summons issued after taking cognizance of the chargesheet.

JNU alumni Mr. Khalid and Mr. Bhattacharya, including Mr. Kumar and others were accused of raising anti-India slogans.

The other seven accused accused in the case are Kashmiri students Aqib Hussain, Mujib Hussain, Munib Hussain, Umar Gul, Reya Rasol, Basheer Bhat and Basharat, some of them in JNU, Aligarh Muslim University and Jamia Millia Islamia. were studying.

Under sections 124A (sedition), 323 (voluntary injury sentence), 471 (using as a forged document or electronic record), 143 (punishment for being a member of an unlawful assembly), 149 on accused He has been charged with the crime. (Being a member of the unlawful assembly), 147 (punishment for rioting) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Following complaints from Bharatiya Janata Party MP Mahesh Giri and Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, a case was registered on 11 February 2016 under sections 124A and 120B of the IPC against unknown people at the Vasant Kunj (North) police station.
