Ishaan Kishan had a dream debut as he became only the second Indian batsman to score a half-century in a Twenty20 international. Kishan scored 56 runs in just 32 balls in the second T20I of the five-match series on Sunday. Former India batsman Virender Sehwag took to Twitter to praise the young wicketkeeper-batsman playing domestic cricket for Jharkhand and found a similarity between him and former India captain MS Dhoni. Dhoni declared himself at international level when he got a chance to bat in the order and similarly Kishan got the opportunity to open the innings and took the opportunity with both hands.

Sehwag tweeted, “A young keeper batsman from Jharkhand boosted the batting order and proved his caliber. It has been done before. Fearless and attacked Ishaan Kishan’s batting.”

Apart from Sehwag, other former cricketers were also saved from the hustle and bustle of Kishan.

In the match, the Indian bowlers restricted England’s strong batting lineup to a low of 164 for six.

Shardul Thakur and Washington Sundar took two wickets each, while Yuzvendra Chahal and Bhuvneshwar Kumar also took one wicket each.

In response, India got off to a poor start as they ducked KL Rahul.

Promoted

India captain Virat Kohli then added Ishaan Kishan and both added 94 runs for the second wicket to give the hosts a win.

Kohli remained unbeaten on 73 and played with a six-over fine leg to tie the five-match series 1–1.
