India’s captain Virat Kohli became the first batsman to score 3000 runs in men’s T20I cricket. He achieved the second T20I between India and England in Ahmedabad on Sunday. Kohli was the leading scorer in the format in men’s cricket before the match. Only two other cricketers have scored more than 3000 runs in the format – both in women’s cricket. New Zealand’s Suzie Bates (3301 runs) and West Indies’ Stafni Taylor (3062) are the other players to achieve this feat.

Kohli played a 73-run knock off just 49 balls with 5 fours and 3 sixes to help India level the five-match series 1–1 as they won the second T20I by seven wickets.

Aiming for 165 runs to win the match, India easily gave up the target of more than two overs.

Kohli now has 600 T20Is from 85 T20Is since his debut in Zimbabwe in 2010.

India had earlier defeated T20I by eight wickets and their batsmen failed to execute their plans for an aggressive brand of cricket.

However, in the second match he carried out those plans completely, as Ishaan Kishan scored a half-century at the top of the order.

Kishan went slam-bang from the beginning, even losing his opening partner KL Rahul.

Promoted

He scored 56 runs in 32 balls with the help of 5 fours and 4 sixes and helped India the most in the powerplay.

Rishabh Pant scored 13 runs and made the match out of England’s fist.
