YSRCP wins Vijayanagaram civic body elections

The ruling YSR Congress Party made a clean sweep in the silent elections in the Vijayanagaram, Bobbili, Parvatipuram, Saluru and Nellimarla Nagar panchayats of Vizianagaram district.

Except for the city of Bobbili, the TDP could not ensure even a small fight in the civic elections. The large scale gained by the YSRCP candidates is another setback for the major opposition party. The result at Fort City is another setback for the TDP where he can win only one ward out of 50.

Strangely, the YSRCP got 49 wards and TDP candidate Karathu Radhamani could win only the 49th ward, the lone seat for the TDP in Vizianagaram which was considered a stronghold for the Cycle Party till the 2019 elections.

He got 1309 votes and his nearest rival and TDP candidate Chigurupati Rajani got 523 votes. TDP mayoral candidate Kandi Samantaka Mani was defeated by YSRCP candidate Bawardi Satish by a margin of 210 votes in the 22nd ward.

As far as Bobbili is concerned, YSRCP won 19 wards out of 31, giving it a comfortable majority to get the post of Chairperson. TDP won 11 wards and won a seat in a historic city.

In fact, there was also no opposition to the YSRCP in Parvatipuram city. The party can win 22 of the 30 wards. The Telugu Desam Party was limited to only five wards and three independents occupied three seats in Parvatipuram.

In Saluru, the YSR Congress Party won 20 wards out of 29. The TDP won five seats and the Congress party won one seat. Independents won the remaining three seats. The presidency of the Nellimarla Nagar Panchayat was confirmed by the ruling YSR Congress, which won 11 out of 20 seats. TDP got seven and two independents got the remaining seats.

Reacting to the election results in the district, Vijayanagaram YSRCP MLA Kolagatla Virbhadra Swamy said that the credit would go to Chief Minister YSJagamohan Reddy as his flagship programs attracted people and helped the party win a majority of seats in the Vizianagaram Munipal Corporation elections. has helped.
