On January 11 of this year, Carol Maltesi, 26, was filming a scenario on her phone when her killer, ex-lover Davide Fontana, taped her hands behind her back, covered her lips with tape, and placed a bag over her head.
According to Il Giorno, the 43-year-old Fontana was seen using a hammer to strike Ms. Maltesi in the scene being filmed. According to Fontana, he used a Japanese knife to slit her throat. A few days later, according to Fontana, he allegedly began mutilating Ms. Maltesi’s body.
He told a courtroom: “The scene in the video involved giving her a few taps on her thighs and then on her stomach. I never saw her face again because it was covered and the hood wasn’t [taken] off. Then I raised the hood and realised I had killed her. Then I started hitting her on the head. I used a hacksaw for metals, while the hammer and the knife I threw in a public trash can. It took me three days [to dismember the body].”
He further said: “I would die myself to bring Carol back to life. I didn’t premeditate anything. I will fight until the end of my days to make amends, to rehabilitate myself as a human being”
At a prior hearing, Fontana acknowledged that he had constructed a false OnlyFans profile and had paid Ms. Maltesi a fee to produce a variety of content for him, many of which featured violent scenarios. Investigators said before the court during this most recent session that Ms. Maltesi and Fontana, who had once been romantically connected, were producing content at Fontana’s request through his fictitious profile, according to Fanpage.it.
Prosecutors say his video request to have her tied up, gagged, and wearing a bag over her head were meant to make it easier for Fontana to kill her despite his assertion that the murder was not premeditated. Then, to give the impression that she was still alive, he called her loved ones—including her boyfriend at the time—on her phone. The Public Prosecutor’s Office discovered that Fontana had previously been using Ms. Maltesi’s credit card to make purchases in the months after her death to give the impression that she was still alive. These transactions included things like women’s shoes.
