A passenger smuggling 627 grams of gold paste was detained by Hyderabad Customs at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad on Saturday.
The accused passenger, who flew from Sharjah to Air Arabia flight no. G9458 at the airport, had hidden gold paste in its specially designed slippers, officials said
When action was taken on the passenger, the authorities extracted 594 grams worth 27.4 lakh passenger from him, and the accused passenger was taken into custody for further questioning.
On Friday, customs officials registered cases against four passengers arriving at the airport from Sharjah by Indigo 6E-1406 for smuggling gold, officials said.
Officials said, “The weight of the shredded piece of gold was 471 grams, which cost Rs 20.67 lakh.”
