HC rejects Muniratna’s plea to dismiss two others

The High Court of Karnataka directed Rajarajeshwaranagar MLA Muniratna, his wife and a filmmaker to be appointed as additional accused in a 2014 criminal case on the alleged creation of a bill for a reasonable sum of money 120. The petitioner was questioned on June 15, 2018, by a special court dismissing his order appointing the MLA, his wife Manjula and producer Ram Babu as the Lokayukta police, who had taken over the case from a premises. Some related documents were seized. The MLA’s wife did not consider him an accused in the charge sheet.

The High Court dismissed the petition citing several reasons for the petitioner being a stranger to the case, stating that there was no special circumstance on his petition as he had not produced any material to implicate the trio.

The petitioner wanted to give a direction to the accused to consider him as “confession” as the contents of Mr. Muniratna’s statement recorded by the Lokayukta police under Section 161 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

‘Far-fetched’

However, the High Court termed the dispute as a “very far-fetched argument”, while noting that “there is no limit to the imagination, it may be regarded as an admission, much less an admission ..” . There is nothing to state it. ”

The court expressed surprise that the petitioner sought to present Ms. Manjula as an accused in the absence of any material against her other than the house from where some documents were seized, being registered in her name. The court found nothing wrong on behalf of the Lokayukta police in protest of the petitioner’s plea to produce Mr. Muniratna as the accused.
